Just wanted to share my Monday good news. I’m in my happy place! :-)

  1. It was great to meet you at the Cotton Patch in Bradenton, Florida this past Thursday!! I was in town for the week from Iowa. Thank you very much for signing your new book for me – cannot wait to show it to my friends in Iowa!! I have so many ideas for quilts from the book – and I love your instructions.

    Thanks again!!

    • Hi, Deb! I remember you VERY well and have photos to be posted on the NEXT blog! Check back today or tomorrow and I will be posting them soon. I’m so glad I got to meet you!!

  2. By the way – you should be proud – it is a great book!!

  3. It’s an awesome review, and even better because it’s from an insider source. I really like that they are encouraging quilt shops to use the book as a base for classes.

I think the book is different than most of those currently out there on the market, and is a refreshing change. It reads a little bit like a blog & goes in a similar (but not identical) personal/chatty direction that a famously exuberant male quilter used in his mag. But it’s all you. For anyone who knows you, Kimberly come across loud and clear in the book. There are tons of us out here who really respond to that. Even my totally nonquilter, non-artistic-in-any-way-shape-or-form sister was impressed. She said that looking through the book gave her more of a sense of what I go through to assemble a quilt, but in a way that made sense even to her. And she liked the recipe for Nuts & Bolts!

I think many quilters are looking for this type of approach to quilting, and you are exactly the right person to make it happen. If I were a brand new quilter, I would not be intimidated by your book. I would feel encouraged to try some of the quilts. I would feel, as you said, that I had a friend who knew what she was doing right by my side as I worked. The book appeals to more experienced quilters as well. I’d be willing to bet that more experienced quilters will love the quilt designs and be able to find tips that will make their quilting life easier and their quilty outlook refreshed. The fact that the quilt designs don’t look “dumbed down” because they employ pre-cuts is huge. I can see an experienced quilter enjoying the simplicity of using pre-cuts, but also enjoying the fact that the resulting quilts don’t LOOK simplistic.

Kimberly, you’ve worked so hard & have built a terrific foundation for your business; I can see it just growing and growing. What’s the Godfather’s phrase? You’ve “made your bones” — and now you’re starting to surge. The accolades are well deserved. I hope you are allowing yourself time (and permission) to be proud of what you’ve done. Bask in the glow, girlfiend!

Oh, and my absolute favorite picture was you and Kent with the Jelly mouse ears!

  4. Well I loved the book- I’m recommending it to the beginning quilterss my friend teaches. I’ve taken classes with Penny, when she had a shop near me. Her opinion is heard by all since she works for Checker- congrats on the rave review- you deserve it!

  5. Hi Kimberly….I received my signed copy of your beautiful book in the mail yesterday and am not surprised at the wonderful reviews you’re receiving. It really is a lovely book and i’ve already earmarked a couple of projects as well as a couple of recipes to try.
Thankyou so much for your generous giveaway!
