I realize this blog is supposed to be mainly “quilt” related, but the story of our midnight visitors is just too good not to share.
For the past four nights, we’ve been visited by little woodland creatures who come right up to the door of my sewing studio to sample the seeds and nuts that have fallen out of the bird feeder. The first night, just one little hedgehog came and stuffed himself on birdseed, dried apricots, peanuts and apple bits.
But good news travels fast because every night since then his sibling has come with him and they’ve enjoyed a late night feast! They especially love the peanuts, and I put them out by the hand full to be sure they go to bed with full tummies.
The entire family has had a ball observing these pint-sized little guys. They don’t seem bothered by us in the least. Even the sight of the cats doesn’t seem to scare them! With a steady supply of food, we hope they will be regular visitors. They will always be welcome at the Einmo Inn!
these are the cutest pictures. good for nighttime too. i also have neighborhood cats sit on the rocker on my front porch or on my back porch where they annoy my cat, Missie.
Maryann —
I love critters, no matter if they are hedgehogs, squirrels, or stray cats in the neighborhood! Too bad your feline visitor annoy your cat — but perhaps it provides some entertainment for her!
Thanks for sharing, and visiting the blog. Hope you’ll come again — I love reading the comments!
