I’ll be on my way to meet a large group of fabulously fun folks at the mega-popular Quilter’s Paradise Retreat sponsored by Quilting By The Bay in Panama City this weekend! I was absolutely tickled and very honored when the shop owner, Sandy Perdue, contacted me and asked if I would present two workshops and a lecture at this year’s retreat. Sandy and I go way back. I met her almost 10 years ago (has it really been that long?) when she was serving in the Air Force and we were stationed at Ramstein Air Base in Germany. I remember her preparing to retire from the military and we spoke about her dream of opening a quilt shop. Now here we are almost 10 years later and her shop is famous around the nation (and around the globe!) How wonderful is that?!
At this year’s retreat, I’ll be teaching students to make absolutely perfect pineapple quilts using my NO MATH, NO TRAPEZOIDS, and NO STRESS method!
And I’ll be teaching a new mystery quilt class as well as presenting a trunk show of quilts from my book, Jelly Roll Quilts & More along with my PowerPoint presentation, Jelly Rolls = A Recipe for Design Success! With so much stitching, gabbing, eating, sharing, and access to one of the world’s most beautiful beaches…..I think this weekend will be a huge success!
I’ll be bringing two very special guests with me (no hints!) so for those of you who’ll be attending this weekend’s retreat — we are looking forward to seeing you there!
I have always LOVED that pineapple quilt. I keep meaning to try your technique, and have just never gotten around to it — it’s on my list for 2011!! I know that everyone will love your classes — you have a knack for bringing out the very best in every student. Have Fun!!!!!!!
How I’d love to join you at that retreat! But there’s Open House Saturday at my kids’ school and a huge project on my machine that needs to be worked on… Have tons of fun – anf I know you will!
When I got to the retreat on Friday I thought I was going to be able to Free Sew. As I signed in I ask Kathy(from Quilting By the Bay) if I was signed up for a class & she informed me that I was in Kimberly Einmo Class. Here I was not prepared!!! Being not prepared is not my style!! So, off I go to QBTB, Jean was there & helped me pick my fabric. An hour later back at the retreat I find out that I have to have a special Easy Pineapple Log Cabin Ruler!! What next I ask myself??? Got the ruler, another ruler(easy Star & Geese) I am a sucker for anything that says EASY. OK here’s two of Kimberly Einmo Books, bought them too. Can’t wait until Sat.morn to see what I got myself into. I even ask Kimberly Einmo not to begin without me &she did as I arrived at 9:10am. I must tell you this was probably the best quilting class that I have ever been part of – Kimberly Einmo is an excellent instructor, great personalty, very up on her projects. So, as far as not being prepared – no problem & had a great week-end at the retreat. Thanks Kimberly See you again.
Lynda — You were an absolute doll and I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed getting to know you personally! What a hoot — you have such a terrific (and wicked) sense of humor, and you’re just so much fun to be around! Thank you for saying this was your best quilting class — I really take those words to heart and it means the world to me! I’ll be looking for our paths to cross again….can’t wait! In the meantime, keep on making those gorgeous quilts!
Kimberly, thanks for coming we so enjoyed you and your upbeat personality. (Mr. Kim also). Although I wasn’t in the class as a student, I so enjoyed when I would stop by that everyone was having such a good time and nobody was stressed all they kept saying was how easy the ruler was to use, (Easy Pineapple Log Cabin Ruler). And of course I was suckered into having to buy the ruler, when so many quilters are raving about a new notion I can’t seem to stay away from it. Even the beginners were having a great time. Then the blocks started to appear on the wall, oh my they were spectacular………..Thanks again Kimberly for staying with us for a little while in the Panhandle of Florida.
Hi Kathy! Thank you ever so much for your really supportive and kind comments. They make my heart SING! I had SUCH A GREAT TIME…..honestly, it was the best re-charge for my batteries I could ever have had! You did so much for everyone — and helped to make the entire weekend a thoroughly complete success! You’re gonna love that Pineapple Ruler, and don’t worry…..I’ll even come back and show you personally how to use it! 😉 And it was completely my priviledge to come visit the Panhandle of Florida — my new favorite hang out!
