But first….
I’d like you all to meet Kate. She just stopped by the blog to write:
“Hi Kimberly-
I met you at the Olive Garden and had class with you in Lancaster PA. I have to say I really enjoyed your class and love your blogs!! Thank you for sharing your trips with us.
-Kate”
Thank you so much, Kate! It was my great privilege to meet both you and your friend, Linda, at the Olive Garden (yummo!) but it was even more fun to get to know you both better in class. For being a relatively new quilter, you have certainly come a long way in a short amount of time. Didn’t you tell me you’ve only been quilting for a little over a year? You are really doing fantastic and I’m thrilled you enjoyed yourself. Hope I’ll see you again next year!
Here’s some of the photos from the Sunday Mystery Quilt Class at the Quilters’ Heritage Celebration Show in Lancaster, PA:
(Kate, on my left and to the right of the photo) and the other gals gather ’round for a lesson in how to successfully and accurately square-up their quilt blocks.
Linda and Kate put their pieced units together to begin to unravel the mystery!
Don’t you love Linda’s bag?
Throughout the day, we pinned the blocks on the wall to see the mystery quilt come together.
Yours truly and Kate.
She has a Brother sewing machine. Her hubby has a label maker. They are both fans of the TV show, “Monk.” You do the math. (Too cute).
Oh, how I wish I could remember every one’s names! If there is a member of the Hedgehog Quilting Group out there reading this, would you contact me please? I think these two gals are part of that group….
It was such fun – and so inspiring – to see all the blocks pinned to the walls as each step was completed.
Another step complete…
Stitching the day away but having fun every minute!
After the mystery was revealed, one of Wednesday’s mystery class participants stopped by to show what she was able to complete before the QHC show was over! Simply gorgeous! Love the smile 🙂
Kimberly-
Thank you so much for all the nice things you said and remembered. This was my first time going to the QHC show because I have only been quilting for about a year and a half. My good friend Linda (one in the photo) got me hooked. So now I blame her when my husband asked if I really need all this fabric.(HaHa!!)
I have to say I really loved the QHC and learned a lot from all the classes. My favorite was the mystery quilt. We had a blast in class. It was like we where home with a bunch of old friends just quilting away. I will be there next year!!!!!!!
-Kate
Hi Kate — Wow! That is wonderful news, and you can rest assured I’ll be looking for you at the Mystery Quilt Class in 2009. I hope to be teaching a bunch of other new classes there as well (including the Pineapple Log Cabin quilt!) so perhaps I’ll see you in more than one class? 😉
You keep up the good work — I am very impressed with how far you’ve come already in such a short amount of time. And tell Linda I said “hello!”
Hello Kimberly, I enjoyed the mystery quilt class in April and now I am trying to figure out where to find the info for using the geese ruler to make the star. If I know the finished block size where do I start? I thought there was a page on your website but am having trouble finding it. Thanks for any help you can give. Leslie
Hi Leslie! Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. Sorry you couldn’t find the file on the website. It is on the Products page, at the bottom. However, I just emailed you privately with the file attached so please let me know if you do not receive it in your email inbox!
We were in the Intercourse, Bird in Hand area looking at quilts with friends about 2 weeks ago…one shop we visited had round quilt hoops on a stand that were made in the area and sold in her store for about 170 – 180 dollars..now I can’t recall the name of the store or which town it was located…..need info to give my sister in laws children…with a broad hint that their mom might like one for Christmas. This is driving me crazy….I thought sure I had a brochure or card from the store…it was individually owned…had quilts and supplies but it was the hoop that caught our eye….can you help??? All I can recall is the lady said the hoops were made locally and they had a stand…..probably round table top in size…..know thats not much to go on……but if you can help, I’d appreciate it.
Sorry, Barbara. I don’t know that area at all! If any readers out there can help her — please leave a comment!
