What a fun morning!
Our small neighborhood quilting group (you remember these terrific gals from here) met at my house this morning for a stitch-n-gab (sans Charm, unfortunately. Hey Charm — we missed you, but we’ll see you next week) and we got quite a bit accomplished.
Caroline brought her pretty Jelly Roll quilt top to add the borders.
Remember, this is her very first quilt.
All smiles and having fun. Borders stitched in place.
(Y’all need to check out Caroline’s engagement photos here. Seriously, they are adorable!)
Caroline’s first time. Basting a quilt, that is.
It went well — lots of room to spread out and finished in no time at all….
Jan cut strips and triangles to make perfect flying geese units
using the Easy Star and Geese Ruler.
Fortunately, she had a good teacher to show her this
no math, no wasted fabric, no stress method! Ahem…
And a fun little finish for me
Remember the ‘Turkey Leftovers’ quilt top from here?
I added pretty decorative stitches using 30 wt. varigated cotton thread and….
Presto! A festive fall table topper.
Or two…
Oh yes, and one other fun project I have to share:
This new overstuffed chair and ottoman (a birthday gift from my hubby) just got more comfy with the addition of this 24″ pillow I stitched together with leftover upolstery fabric remnants, decorative stitches and fringe. I had “sew” much fun putting this together! Makes me want to curl up with a good book and settle in for some lazy reading and an afternoon snooze.
Hope your week is going well and you are having fun stitching these days. Cheers!
Just saw the NEW chair…..love it and the pillow.
Now I’ll bring my books and read when you “girls” sew.
